The goal of his project was to fabricate a gradient in protein concentration within a
3D porous polymer scaffold for tissue regeneration applications.
To achieve this objective poly(oligo(ethylene glycol)  methacrylate) (POEGMA) brushes
were grown from the surface of polyester based scaffolds. Subsequently, the brushes
were functionalized with cell adhering (fibronectin) and cell differentiating proteins
(growth factors), either in an axial or radial gradient.
